CMS (Content Management Systems) are web sites that are built upon an advanced scripting framework, most often PHP. Content Management Systems have the ability to automate many of the dynamic scripting needs of clients who require content that is automated and easily changeable.
CMS is often used for ecommerce (web site stores), and to provide an effective means for a site visitor to interact with the web site Such interactive features include calendars, blogs, forums, newsletters, web directories, polls, a site search engine, and password restrictions. Another important element of CMS is that there is an administrative control panel that allows the site owner to add and otherwise update content from any location that has internet access. Typically once a site is set up there is no further need of the site designer/developer.
