
LOS RIOS JUNIOR COLLEGE DISTRICT
ARJC STUDENT BODY CHARTER
In recognition of the true and democratic ideals of government of, by and for all people through due process of representation, we, the Board of Trustees of Los Rios Junior College District, on this 19th day of May in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Nine Hundred and Sixty-five, do hereby grant his charter bestowing upon the student body of American River Junior College the privileges, duties, and responsibilities of self-government.
This government shall be administered and represented by an executive and legislative branch whose members shall be elected. It shall be interpreted by a judicial branch whose members shall be appointed. The duties of each branch shall be accomplished as specifically set forth in a constitution created and approved by the student body under the guidance of the President of the College and such other persons as he shall deem it necessary to appoint.
We, the Board of Trustees of Los Rios Junior College District, do furthermore hold the regularly assigned administrative personnel of the district responsible for the effective functioning of the student government. Should the student body fail at any time to fulfill its trust as a self-government unit, the President of the College may exercise the power of veto.
Upon the recommendation of the President of the College, we, the Board of Trustees, retain the right to revoke this charter, provided such recommendation shall be prompted by reason of misuse or neglect of said charter.
In accepting this charter, it shall be the duty of the student body to take upon itself the responsibility of self-government as set forth in the Declaration of Independence of the United States, and in so doing, to respect at all times the sovereign dignity and worth of the individual.
