Lifted from Darkness is the personal website of author and domestic violence survivor Jeanette Towne, created to promote her book of the same name. This is the second book website we developed for Jeanette, following From Prisoner to President in 2012, and is part of a long client relationship that has included six business websites for Synectic Technologies and Killer VoIP.
The 2015 WordPress site was built to complement the book’s identity, with a custom jQuery slideshow styled to match the book jacket, embedded video, reviews and testimonials, and book sales linking. We provided a logo rendering from graphical mockups, content writing, image optimization, and on-page SEO throughout. When the original WordPress theme was later discontinued, we rebuilt the site as a custom HTML website to preserve the existing design and content. We also assisted with Facebook setup.
